Sunapee has resurfaced and temps are dropping overnight. Winds forecast 9-10 for tomorrow (Saturday).

There is 4-6 ft of open water along the edge of the ice at the state beach and what looks like some holes further out. Access may be an issue. A LONG plank is advisable since even if it freezes overnight ice along the shore will not support weight. You can walk out on the ice from SooNippi, but access is very limited and parking further away.

A scan of the ice with binoculars did not reveal any major wind holes or drain holes. Open water seems to be only near shore.

Tomorrow is possible. Sunday early (before it starts to warm up) may be better.

    Sat 28 30° / 20°

Partly Cloudy 1% 11 mph Forecast for Saturday on Lake Sunapee. Today (Thursday ) high of 60 and rain. Overnight and Tomorrow colder.

We sailed Sunapee 3/24. The ice was > 1 foot thick and very rough / soft after noon.

I am thinking the rain and warm temps may cause good resurfacing and then a two day freeze could put the ice in good shape for Saturday and even early on Sunday. From up on the hill I can see the ice resurfacing now. Something to consider. The skaters are planning to come on Saturday.

I will try to provide updates.
