Junior Ice Boat For Sale
Small iceboat perfect for kids! I purchased this when my kids were 8 and my daughter sailed in it this winter at 15. It has a small flat cut sail that keeps the power down and a hand brake to boost everybody’s confidence! Aluminum mast, Sarns style alligator plate runners, cockpit cover included. I am selling this for what I bought it for to move it on to the next upcoming skippers – at $850 this is about the cost of the runners! If you are thinking about buying it for just the runners – please don’t make an offer – this is for the kids.
Boat is in great shape and located in Hammondsport, NY (Finger Lakes). If anyone from this area is heading up to the swap meet I’d be happy to work with them to transport it.

For those not familiar with ball mount plank:
A design that I invented in the 90s to replicate what a ski safety release binding does for a skier. If a hazard is struck on the ice that would normally rip the plank from the fuselage, with a bolt on plank there is damage to the plank, fuselage, or both. The ball mount plank avoids damage, and is able to be reattached on the ice in minutes. The shear stress on the plank fuselage attachment is provided by the equator of the balls that are half in the plank and half in the fuselage. The 4 balls are the equivalent of 4 3/4 inch bolts for any shear stresses. The plank and fuselage are held in position by a sacrificial fiberglass reinforced nylon bolt, starboard and port. If a hazard that would normally rip a plank from the fuselage is encountered the sacrificial nylon bolts shear as the balls roll out of the sockets, and no damage to the boat happens. Spare balls and bolts are carried aboard, and in 15 minutes you are able to sail away. Outboard Motor for Ice Boats
Designed and built by Jack Jacobs
Husquvarna 48 inch chain saw motor and chain (no blades) power a 20 inch solid rubber tire with long (non-sharp) spikes to motor an iceboat across the ice sheet. Motorcycle throttle comes up to the cockpit so the sailor can control the machine. Mounts to a runner plank.
Jack Jacobs built about a dozen of these, many of which are in active use. Ron Sherry of Composite Concepts and successful DN racer sold several of these motors and may still have his own.
During the 1992 Spring Frolic on Lake Winnipesaukee, when the wind died down, Jack Jacobs and Bill Sarns were seen zipping across the lake back to Wolfeboro Bay with these outboard motors while the rest of the fleet was being pushed and pulled back to Wolfeboro.

Arrow Iceboat. Newer sail and plank. Very solid hull. Great condition. Harkin blocking, Cockpit pad, and Sail bag. I can not iceboat any more. I had 10 Iceboats and this is one of the nicest. Only asking $1500 so some one can get in to the sport and take a friend for a ride. It is not boat 100 as the sail indicates. The sail maker did that because the hull had no number on it.
